Things to Know

• We have two tiers for tuning: If you are a new client or if we haven’t tuned your piano in more than three years, our rate is $185.00 – this higher rate allows our techs to spend more time going over your piano to check for issues, getting it to the proper pitch, and talking about the piano with you.  For returning clients who have had us tune within the last three years, our rate is just $165.00 for a standard tuning.
• If your piano hasn’t been tuned for a while you may also need a pitch correction. A pitch correction is the calculated over-pull on the string tension to compensate for pianos that are particularly low in pitch due to lack of proper maintenance or stability in the environment. This serves to prepare the piano for the proper pitch, and is then followed by a standard tuning.
• We provide regular maintenance reminders and notifications.
• Please make sure your piano is easily accessible and cleared of any valuables or keepsakes.
• Tunings take on average one and a half hours.
• We ask your assistance in keeping the area of the tuning as quiet as possible so that our technicians can do the best job possible.

What does it take to be a Jackson Pianos tuner?

What does it take to be a JP tuner? Each of our tuners complete 200 in-shop tunings before they head into the field; it would typically take an independent tuner three to five years to amass this number of tunings that JP requires our tuners to accomplish in a one year cycle.

Beyond the basics, our tuners come from one of the few and far between true piano builders that still exist. This allows our tuners to gain rare experience and knowledge that you’ll only the most well-rounded, seasoned professionals, straight from the beginning! Our tuners learn about piano cleaning, string installation, regulation, inspections, rebuilding, moves, and every nitty-gritty detail in between.
